The Digital Multifunction MT4021 and MT3816 are from a new office-oriented series of all-in-one laser printers from Mextec Corporation (Malaysia) Berhad. Both MT3816 and MT4021 models produce speedy and high-quality prints. This is a review of the MT4021 multi function printers model, which is a step up from the MT3816 and MT4016 models. As all models in this series are built with the same print engine, their speed and quality of prints are similar across the series.

The MT4021 All-In-One is certainly targeted for office usage and not home use. It’s geared for extensive use in a small to medium sized office environment. This is because, the MT4021 is capable of producing a print output from 11,000 – 40,000 prints a month. It’s also capable of churning out a maximum of 16,000 copies a month.

Design
This multifunction workhorse stands at 23? wide, 24? deep and x 20″ tall. I also weights about 85 pounds. A 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF) comes as an optional item. The ADF allows you to copy, scan, or fax multipage documents without having to babysit the job. It sits on the scanner lid, which opens to reveal a legal-size flatbed scanner.

It comes with a single input tray that holds up to 250 sheets. However, it has a Maximum Paper Capacity of 1,350. The printed pages are caught by the output tray, which sits atop the input tray. The output tray flips up for easy paper loading. It’s capable of handling up to 250 sheets of paper output.

Features
The MT4021 can be connected directly via USB. Network printing is offered as an option – an optional Network Interface Card is required. The unit prints, scans, copies and faxes. Automatic double-sided prints, are possible with an optional addition of a duplexer. Double-sided prints take a little longer than single-sided prints do, because the printer pauses for a few seconds after printing the first side to allow the ink to dry.

You can send and receive faxes, and when sending, you can use either the ADF or the flatbed scanner. Fax numbers that you frequently use, can be stored as speed-dial numbers. You can set up 27 one touch dials, 200 speed-dials, 4 programmed dials, and 16 group dials.

The MT4021 provides the usual array of copying options. You are able to specify a paper tray (if more than one) and the paper size, optimize copy quality based on type of original (text, image, or mixed), collate, make double-sided copies (with optional duplexer), and, of course, change the number of copies.
